Part Time Bookkeeper / Accounts Assistant

We are a friendly charity based in Long Hanborough, Oxfordshire and we are looking to recruit a part time bookkeeper/accounts assistant to assist the Accountant with the running of the finance function. The role is for approximately seven hours a week (some flexibility in working hours) and includes the following duties:
  • Processing and payment of purchase invoices.
  • Processing of staff expenses and credit card purchases.
  • Posting and project allocation of grants via journal entries.
  • Assist with the reconciliation of balance sheet control accounts & inter- charity accounts.
  • Assist with adhoc administrative tasks as required.
  • To provide support cover to the accountant, experience of the following would also be beneficial: VAT returns, running a small payroll, bank reconciliations and administration of pension.

Experience and Qualifications Required

  • Experience of Exchequer software would be preferred but training will be provided to the successful candidate.
  • A sound knowledge of Excel.
  • Good attention to detail, understanding of confidentiality issues and thoroughness is required.
  • An accounting or bookkeeping qualification would be beneficial. However we are happy for prospective candidates to be qualified by experience.
Remuneration will be commensurate with experience and the charity also offers a pension contribution of 6% of salary, plus 25 days annual leave (pro rata).
