Genomic databases

The following links are various genomic databases that may be of benefit to students and scientists:

  • Crosser: A program to explore plant breeding strategies. The user enters the donor plants and a crossing scheme, and Crosser calculates the proportion of the genome that comes from the recombinant parent, and the number of offspring that need to be tested to give a 95% chance of having 5 plants with the desired traits.

  • Phaseolus Genes: This is a web resource for identifying and exploring markers, quantitative-trait loci (QTL), and simple sequence repeat (SSR) region information for Phaseolus vulgaris. You can use this database to find marker information and explore them through the associated UCSC Genome Browser and Cmap implementations.
